That Eleanor of Aquitaine became disillusioned leading troops in the 2nd Crusade for religious ends, found value in creating the courts of love, inspired troubadours, wrote the first maritime laws to develop her trade in spice and fashions with the rest of the world, placed her progeny in every throne in Europe to Jerusalem by the end of her life was not nearly as important as why she did these things.
